Luca Vricella, MD is a renowned pediatric cardiac surgeon in Baltimore, Maryland. He invited me to operate alongside him in Cambodia for a week. Over the past five years, he has trained surgeons there in pediatric cardiac surgery and created a sustainable program whereby their local children’s hospital there now preforms over 300 open heart surgeries on children with congenital heart disease.
